Delta Central Senate: Urhobo Opinion Leaders Endorse Olorogun Nani

Prominent Urhobo opinion leaders within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State have thrown their weight behind party chieftain, Olorogun John Obukowho Nani, as a leading contender for the Delta Central Senatorial seat.

The endorsement followed an expanded emergency meeting held at the residence of party leader, Alhaji Barrister Mumakai Unagha, where stakeholders across the district deliberated on zoning, equity, and party strategy ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Unagha argued that principles of fairness and political balance favour the emergence of a candidate from Ethiope Federal Constituency, particularly Ethiope West Local Government Area.

“For the sake of equity, justice, and inclusiveness, Ethiope Federal Constituency—especially Ethiope West—deserves the opportunity to produce the next senator for Delta Central,” Unagha said.

He noted that other federal constituencies in the district have had their turn at the Senate over the years, stressing that the current political moment presents a compelling case for rotation.

“Every other federal constituency in Delta Central has produced a senator at one point or another. It is only fair that Ethiope West is given that chance now,” he added.

The leaders described Nani as a seasoned politician with grassroots appeal and administrative experience, expressing confidence in his ability to represent the district effectively at the National Assembly.

“Olorogun John Nani has built relationships across communities and understands the needs of our people. His experience positions him to deliver quality representation,” the group stated.

They also appealed to Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and other key stakeholders in the APC to support Nani’s aspiration in the interest of unity and strategic positioning ahead of the polls.

“We urge the governor and critical stakeholders within the party to rally behind John Nani. This is about fairness, cohesion, and giving every part of Delta Central a sense of belonging,” the statement concluded.
